For the past two decades, the Lighthouse ministry has been a witness to the world of God's love. From supporting just a handful of folks at its inception, the Lighthouse is now a well-established community kitchen in Orangeville—serving 25-40 individual meals each weekday from our small church.

Our Heavenly Father has called us to be like Him, to shine His light of hope, charity, mercy, and compassion in a lost and darkened world––to serve and support the lost, poor, hungry, sick, vulnerable, marginalized, forgotten, and needy, such as orphans, widows, destitute, disabled, aged, imprisoned, hospitalized, homebound, shut-ins, and those living on the streets, all for the glory of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

then shall your light rise in the darkness

Our Mission –– What We Do

The Lighthouse is an evangelistic and discipleship ministry that nourishes the body and soul through food, prayer, and the Word of God. We offer a warm home-cooked meal at lunchtime, five-days a week, as well as a place to keep warm during the colder days and winter months. Fellowship and devotions over a warm meal is a wonderful way to water the Word implanted in our hearts. We also distribute take-out meals to those who are homebound, hospitalized, or shut-in, to help all that we can in our abundance. Our chief end is to glorify God our Father through the love of the Holy Spirit, by sharing the Bread of Life to all who need Him.

Our vision is to create a Godfearing community where everyone is valued, heard, and supported, to be a place where anyone can find solace and encouragement, and where immediate and long-term needs are met with care and dignity. We strive to nurture lifelong disciples in Christ through fellowship, prayer, and the application of God’s Word, encouraging others to use their gifts in the world for His Kingdom, and evangelizing the streets of Orangeville, in word and in deed. Our hope is to transform lives through the love of God, to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, to help those in desperation, to edify believers and build the body of Christ, all for the glory of the one true living God.

Our Needs –– How Can You Help?

The Lighthouse is a ministry of the Uptown Church, but is also supported by donations from other local churches and community organizations. Many of our meals are donated from our generous supporters and the gracious Christian community in and surrounding Orangeville, which is extraordinarily helpful and humbling. Many also come into the church and volunteer their time or donate food. We always work within our means. Our volunteer cooks work extremely hard to organize groceries and ensure meals are provided each day, but our volunteers cannot do it all on their own. We also want to offer programs that help deliver people from their difficulties and addictions, in the Lord's will and timing, but, again, we need your support to do it.

You can support the Lighthouse in several ways:

• Volunteer: cooking a meal, heating up a freezer meal, serving food and drink, praying for the church and community, and just being a joyful presence in the Lord.
• Donate: providing food and financial support is critical to help those who desperately need it––a freshly made meal, freezer meal, or groceries from our list are all welcome.
• Evangelize: spreading the word about what we do makes a profound impact in the lives of those we serve, and helps sustain our mission to help the needy.
